HATFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Municipal officials are in receipt of state grant dollars to help them improve a traffic signal at a busy local intersection.

Hatfield Township has been awarded a grant totaling $354,240 from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Green Light-Go program, whose funds can be used by communities with LED technology installation, traffic signal retiming and upgrading, and other improvements relating to traffic.

The grant funding was announced by the office of State Rep. Steve Malagari, a Democrat representing the 53rd House District.

The grant funding awarded to Hatfield Township was among the more than $37.8 million to support similar traffic upgrades that was announced by the office of Gov. Tom Wolf this week.

"The safety improvements supported by the Green Light-Go program help municipalities relieve congestion and traffic flow, as well as keep Pennsylvanians moving safely and efficiently," Wolf said in a statement. "I'm proud to help our communities improve mobility for Pennsylvanians."

The Hatfield grant was one of a total of 14 grants from the program that were issued to municipalities across Montgomery County for similar traffic improvement projects.

Grants went to communities in 33 out of Pennsylvania's 67 counties.
