Montgomery Township Residents Are Invited To Participate In 2022 Citizens Police Academy
Registration for the Montgomery Township Police Department's Citizens Police Academy will close this Friday. Residents are welcome to join.
MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, PA — Those interested in learning more about the inner workings of suburban police departments are invited to take part in an upcoming citizens police academy program.
The Montgomery Township Police Department is now accepting interest from area residents who would like to participate in the town's annual program, during which community members will learn about different aspects of police work.
Those who attend the program will receive a police station tour, get to participate in a mock crime scene investigation, learn about credit card and money fraud, be educated on courtroom procedures and be treated to a presentation by the department's canine unit, among other things.

Citizens police academy programs are designed to teach members of the public about different aspects of police work, from patrol duties and community relations efforts to investigative work and how different criminal cases are brought to trial.
Various departments in Montgomery County offer programs such as the one being presented in Montgomery Township.

The Montgomery Township program will last for 10 weeks beginning March 29 and running through May 24. Classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Registration for the 2022 Citizens Police Academy will be open through Friday, and those interested in participating can reach out to Officer Robert Johnson at 215-362-2301 or send him an email at rjohnson@montpd.org.
The program is open to Montgomery Township residents, business owners, or nonresidents who are employed in the township. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate.
