MONTGOMERYVILLE, PA — Montgomeryville's local movie theater is getting an upgrade.

Water Tower Cinema will be taken over by Flagship Premium Cinemas, a chain with locations throughout the mid-Atlantic and the northeast. A multi-phase renovation will begin this fall while the theater remains open.

Planned upgrades include new signature luxury recliners, and improved concessions area, and a "polished, modern" interior that Flagship says will improve the theater-going experience.

Flagship will retain the same theater team currently working at Water Town Cinema, and all existing gift cards and advance ticket sales and events will be honored.

This will mark Flagship's 19th location, with nearby theaters in Pottstown and Palmyra, New Jersey.

Water Tower last underwent a renovation and rebrand in 2019, when it was remodeled in the image of the old Frank Theatres. First launched as "The Eric" in 1968, the cinema has been a part of the community in some form for decades.

The cinema is located at 750 Montgomery Glen Drive.
