Lansdale Mosquito Spraying Closes Whites Road Park Wednesday Evening
Public officials found the West Nile virus in a recent sample of the mosquito population at the park, the borough said.
LANSDALE, PA — Whites Road Park is closed Wednesday evening while public health workers spray for mosquitoes. Public officials found the West Nile virus in a recent sample of the mosquito population there.
The Montgomery County Office of Public Health said they determined spraying was necessary near the park after consulting with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) and Lansdale Borough and Upper Gwynedd Township officials.
The spraying will be done where state and local testing "has shown mosquitoes that carry the West Nile Virus (WNV)," the borough said.

Crews will spray to control the adult mosquito population on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from approximately 7:45-9:15 p.m. around the park, the borough said.
"Residents within the spray area should consider remaining indoors, closing windows and turning off ventilation systems that draw in outside air for the duration of the spray plus 30 minutes afterward," the borough said.

"Workers will be using Duet® Duel-Action Adulticide at a rate of .75 fluid ounces per acre applied with a truck mounted Ultra Low Volume (ULV) sprayer," the borough said. "The spray will be performed by OPH personnel."
