New Novel The Almighty Accused by Lansdale Author Steven Donahue

New Novel Puts God on Trial

God takes center stage in the new book The Almighty Accused by Lansdale author Steven Donahue.

In this thought-provoking novel, God is put on trial by middle school students after a fatal shooting at their school.

Traumatized by the loss of his twin sister during the school shooting, 13-year-old student Nolan Mitchell convinces his history teacher to allow their class to reenact the fabled WWII trial of God by Jewish prisoners of war.

The mock trial explores the issues of God’s responsibility to Man, and Man’s responsibility regarding free will. The trial draws the ire of parents, students, residents, and school administrators, while also attracting the attention of news reporters from across the country.

As the trial moves forward, Nolan and his best friend, Darby, find themselves victims of bullying by members of the school’s football team. The school is also rocked by a student’s suicide.

The Almighty Accused examines issues of faith, school violence, teen suicide, and child abuse. The book is available on Amazon.com.

Longtime Lansdale resident Steven Donahue was a copywriter for TV Guide magazine for 14 years. His published novels include Amanda Rio (2004), The Manila Strangler (2013), Amy the Astronaut and the Flight for Freedom (2013), Comet and Cupid’s Christmas Adventure (2013), Chasing Bigfoot (2014), Where Freedom Rings: A Tale of the Underground Railroad (2015), Solahütte (2017), Amy the Astronaut and the Secret Soldiers (2019), Snow Angels (2021), Unfriendly Fire (2022), The Morgan Film (2023), and Strange Bedfellows (2024).
