NORTH WALES, PA — The North Wales Area Library has been awarded a $90,000 state grant to help with infrastructure upgrades.

State Rep. Liz Hanbidge, a Montgomery County Democrat, announced the news on Wednesday.

"Unfettered access to high-quality public libraries has been a part of our commonwealth's story since its inception," Hanbidge said in a statement. "These grant dollars will go toward ensuring residents in the 61st Legislative District continue to have an avenue to obtain the vital services offered by our public libraries here in Montgomery County."

The grant money comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Bureau of Library Development, which is funded with a portion of the state's real estate transfer tax, according to Hanbidge's office.

The North Wales Area Library plans to use the grant money to help offset the cost of building repairs, including roof replacement and insulation, which are designed to help the library with its goal of becoming more energy efficient.
