Owner Of Popular Lansdale BBQ Joint Dies At 58

Michael Wister brought his love of all things BBQ to the Lansdale area for years.

LANSDALE, PA — The owner of a popular Lansdale BBQ restaurant, Michael Wister, has passed away, the eatery announced.

Wister, the owner of Smoke Daddy's on 575 S. Broad Street, was 58.

"Hello to all... This will not be a fun post for me to have to write," an announcement posted on Smoke Daddy's social media pages read. "As of Sept. 28th the owner of our little BBQ spot has passed away from illness. He was battling a few things throughout the last couple years but always put up a brave face not wanting to draw attention."

Wister's son, Michael, will now run the BBQ and "is committed to keeping his father's legacy" alive.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. at Huff and Lakjer Funeral Home, with a service starting at 11 a.m.

Donations are being accepted to Manna on Main in Wister's name.

Huff and Lakjer is located on 701 Derstine Ave. in Lansdale.
