Police Cruiser One Of Two Cars Involved In Montco Motor Vehicle Accident

UPPER GWYNEDD, PA — A police cruiser belonging to a local law enforcement agency was involved in a motor vehicle accident with another car early Tuesday morning, police announced.

The Upper Gwynedd Police Department said officers were dispatched to a vehicle accident involving a police vehicle from adjacent Towamencin Township and a car transporting three civilians.

The accident occurred on Valley Forge Road near Snyder Road, police stated.

The roadway was closed for some time as emergency crews attended to the accident scene.

Police said that all four individuals involved in the crash were taken to Grandview Hospital for treatment, and all were expected to recover from their injuries, the extent of which was not immediately released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Upper Gwynedd Police Department and the North Penn Area Crash Team.

A photo of the crash scene that was posted online showed that the police vehicle involved was an SUV and the other car appeared to be a Toyota Prius.

The Prius appeared to have damage to its front passenger side.

Valley Forge Road separates Towamencin and Upper Gwynedd Townships, and the accident apparently occurred on the dividing line between the two municipalities, which is why Upper Gwynedd officers were dispatched to the scene.

There was no immediate word on Wednesday morning whether those involved in the incident are still hospitalized or whether they have been released.
