Police: DelCo Man Charged with Possessing Stolen Handgun

Jonathan Philip Dippold, 30, of the 1000 block of Tayler Drive, Folcroft, PA, was taken into custody by Towamencin Police Feb. 19 for alleged illegal possession of a stolen firearm and two other felonies while at Holiday Inn in Towamencin, police said.

Dippold faces charges of felony possession of a firearm by a person prohibited from possessing a firearm, felony carrying a firearm without a license and felony receiving stolen property, according to court records.

Dippold has a preliminary hearing set for March 7 at 11:30 a.m. before District Judge Harold Borek in Lansdale.

Dippold remains incarcerated at Montgomery County prison on $25,000 cash bail, according to court records.

According to police, on Feb. 19 at 1:05 a.m., police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at the Holiday Inn at 1750 Sumneytown Pike.

While responding, police were advised that a man, identified as Dippold, in the disturbance may be a wanted subject and may allegedly be in possession of a handgun, police said.

Upon arrival, police encountered a man fitting the description of Dippold. He was allegedly in possession of a loaded .45-caliber handgun, police said.

The handgun had been reported stolen, police said, and was being investigated by Pennsylvania State Police Skippack barracks.

Dippold pleaded guilty in Montgomery County court in May 2010 to a DUI of more than .15 percent BAC from a Lower Salford arrest in 2009, according to court records. Dippold was sentenced to a maximum of six month in prison, serving 74 days, according to court records.

In 2004, Montgomery County prosecutors did not seek prosecution against Dippold for two simple assault charges, reckless endangerment, harassment and felony carrying a firearm without a license charges, stemming from a January 2004 arrest by Upper Perkiomen Police, according to court records.
