St. Patrick’s Day In The Lansdale Area: Celebration, DUI Enforcement, And More

LANSDALE, PA — St. Patrick’s Day is on a Friday this year. The Lansdale area and surrounding region will be swimming in Kelly green, and, more than likely, flashing red and blue lights.

Conshohocken already held its annual parade last weekend, but there are still several other events celebrating the holiday around the area.

Meanwhile, municpialities and regional law enforcement coalitions are plotting sobriety checkpoints leading up to and through the St. Patrick's Day weekend. Increased DUI enforcement patrols will be on the roads around Montgomery County, and will particularly target areas where crashes have occurred with alcohol as a factor, police said.

Some 70 crashes in the five-county Philadelphia area involved drunk drivers during St. Patrick's Day week in 2022, according to PennDOT data. Two people died.

Blueprint Brewing in Harleysville is hosting a St. Patrick's Day Party with live music.

Perkasie's Mystic Ways brewing is celebrating the day with Stranger Things Rock from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Elmwood Park Zoo is reopening this weekend after shutting down for months due to demolition and construction related to its new welcome center and state of the art animal hospital.

"Celebrate the luck of the Irish with our grand reopening of the zoo on March 18 and 19," the zoo said in a statement.

Montgomery County Main Public Library in Norristown has a series of events, starting with the "Road to Gold" scavenger hunt throughout the day on March 17. Organizers say it's a "fun scavenger hunt in the children’s department! Can you track down all of our gold pieces? Prizes for those who complete the challenge while supplies last. Open to all ages. Ages 7 and under must be accompanied by a caretaker."

The library will also hold a beginner Irish Dance Lesson at 1 p.m.

MaGerks Pub and Grill in Horsham will have live music from the Reillys Daughter band with Tommy Conwell, as well as Irish dancers. Music starts at 5 p.m.

Xfinity Live in Philadelphia is holding a special holiday event with country recording artist, Rob Basselgia.
