West Nile Virus Positive Test Samples Total 2,618

With summer nearing its end, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has totaled 2,618 positive test samples of West Nile Virus in mosquitoes and birds, according to Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's West Nile Control Program.

Of that number, 91 tested positive in avians, according to the site.

Between Tuesday and Thursday, there have been 54 more positive mosquito test samples and one avain test sample that was in York County.

On Tuesday, the DEP reported 71 new mosquito postives and six new avian positives in the state.
