Coastal Flooding In Eastern PA Friday Forecast: See Timing

While PA skies are slated to remain sunny on Friday, coastal flooding still remains a threat in the region, forecasters say.

PENNSYLVANIA - While Pennsylvania skies are slated to remain sunny on Friday, coastal flooding will be a threat on roads in the region at night, forecasters say.

Friday is set to start off with clear skies, temperatures in the low 80s and “plenty of sunshine,” according to the National Weather Service. However, widespread minor (with spotty moderate) coastal flooding is expected to hit the Delaware river region through Friday night.

As of 6 a.m. Friday, three Pennsylvania counties are under a coastal flood advisory from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. Saturday morning:

“Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways,” forecasters said in the advisory. “At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible.”

Friday also holds a high risk for dangerous rip currents along New Jersey and Delaware beaches, forecasters added.
