Confirmed EF-1 Tornado Swept Bristol Wednesday: NWS

An EF-1 tornado is confirmed to have touched down in Levittown on Wednesday, having traveled from Burlington County, New Jersey.

LEVITTOWN, PA — An EF-1 tornado swept through Bristol Wednesday evening, the National Weather Service confirmed Thursday afternoon.

The tornado's peak winds were estimated at around 90 mph. The storm moved from Edgewater Park, New Jersey to Bristol, according to findings by the NWS storm damage survey team.

An EF-1 tornado on the Enhanced Fujita scale is marked by moderate damage, with wind speeds between 86 and 110 mph.

The tornado is one of many weather disasters in Bucks County brought on by what remains of Hurricane Ida, which moved through eastern Pennsylvania on Wednesday leaving destruction in its wake.

The Bristol Township, Pennsbury, and Neshaminy School Districts were all closed Thursday as the region dealt with extensive damage from floods and rainfall.
