BRISTOL, PA — Dad's Hat PA Rye, a popular distillery in the Bucks County area, will be opening a new tasting room in Historic Bristol on May 12.

The new location will be at 131 Mill Street, one block away from the Bristol Waterfront Park and about one mile from the main distillery, located at 925 Canal Street.

The Bristol-based distillery is known for its award-winning Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey, a traditional spirit whose recipe dates back to the 1800s. The spirit has won Dad's Hat the Craft Whisky of the Year Award from Whisky Advocate Magazine, as well as the International Craft Producer of the Year by Whisky Magazine. The first award was for their classic Pennsylvania rye.

Founded by distillers Herman Mihalich and John Cooper in 2010, the new tasting room will offer classic and creative cocktails made with their whiskey, as well as craft beers, wine, ciders, and spirits from producers from across Pennsylvania. Bottles of their whiskey, as well as flights, will also be available for sale at the new location.

"Our goal is to create the absolute highest quality cocktails available anywhere in the Delaware Valley using high-quality ingredients and featuring our own whiskey expressions," said Mihalich.

The distillery offers a variety of Pennsylvania rye-style whiskeys, including one finished in vermouth barrels, one finished in port wine barrels, a "straight" bonded rye whiskey, and a "Pre-Prohibition Style" whiskey, which is aged a minimum of four years.

As one of the busiest and most popular streets in Bucks County, Mill Street is home to a variety of small businesses, including several restaurants and breweries. Their latest location will allow the distillery to expand throughout the Bristol area, offering a traditional whiskey to all connoisseurs and novices.

"There are more and more reasons to come to Bristol than ever, with the Bristol Riverside Theater, events at the Waterfront Park, and a bunch of great restaurants to sample – all in walking distance of each other," added Mihalich. "We are extremely proud to be part of the renaissance in the Borough."

The new Mill Street tasting room will be overseen by Len Boris, a recent addition to the Dad's Hat family. With 14 years of hospitality experience under his belt, the last eight years of which were spent as the Beverage Director for Fearless Restaurants, Mihalich and Cooper are confident Boris will do a great job offering the finest cocktails and straight whisket to Bucks County residents and visitors.

"This is an exciting time to be joining the team at Dad’s Hat," Boris said. "Our tasting room will be a welcoming place for whiskey lovers and newcomers to experience fun, enticing cocktails."
