LANGHORNE, PA — The New York couple accused of putting a 17-year-old Sesame Place employee in the hospital attacked him hours after he asked one of them to wear a face mask to "teach him a lesson," according to police.

That's one of the new details about the attack in the criminal complaint filed in the case by Middletown Township Police. The complaint was released by the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, which is prosecuting the case.

Troy McCoy, 39, of Bronx, New York, was arrested by U.S. Marshals at his home on Wednesday after trying to barricade himself inside. Friday morning, Middletown Township Police officers took custody of McCoy and took him to Bucks County, where he was arraigned before Magisterial Justice John Kelly.

He is being held on $500,000 bail. Shakerra Bonds, 31, of the same address, also is charged in the Aug. 9 attack of the teen, which put him in the hospital for seven days and required surgery for damage to his jaw and teeth.

Bonds has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 24.

According to the criminal complaint, the teen saw McCoy waiting in line for a ride at about 1 p.m. and asked him to wear his mask. McCoy got mad and started yelling at him and the teen walked away to avoid a confrontation, according to the complaint.

It was at about 4:30 p.m., police say, when the employee encountered the couple again at another ride. McCoy got off of the ride and "threatened to teach him a lesson," according to the complaint.

The couple both hit the teen in the face, knocking him to the ground, the complaint says. While he was on the ground and unconscious, they kept striking him, according to police.

A second employee tried to help and Bonds punched her in the face, according to the charges. Several witnesses described McCoy's attack on the teen as a "sucker punch," the complaint says.

The teen's jaw was broken in two places and had to be wired shut, according to the criminal complaint.

A fundraiser has been set up to help the 17-year-old during his recovery from the attack. It had raised more than $39,000 as of Tuesday afternoon.
