BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA —It's a tradition similar to one you can find on the streets of Philadelphia.

When the Philadelphia Eagles win games that send them to the Super Bowl, Philly fans go crazy and hit the streets as they did Sunday night after the Birds beat the Washington Commanders to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 on Sunday, Feb. 9.

Fans did not disappoint, heading out to the Five Points intersection in Levittown as they usually do and the Bristol Township Police Department was prepared to handle the crowd.

Fans set off fireworks and the intersection was full but the crowd appeared under control with horns blaring, lots of high fives and hugs, and a lifesize Jalen Hurts poster waving above the celebration, the Bucks County Courier Times reported.

Bristol Township Police sent out an advance notice to residents Friday and unruly behavior would not be tolerated. They even asked for a clear intersection, but that didn't happen.

"The Bristol Township Police Department is anticipating a large crowd after the NFC Championship Game on Sunday at the Five Points intersection," police said. "In light of several national tragedies recently where vehicles have struck civilians during celebrations or events being held, we are requesting the intersection remain clear. There will be a large officer presence and we are requesting full cooperation to ensure everyone’s safety. We understand this is an exciting time but above all, we strive to keep everyone safe 24/7 and this is no different. Please consider celebrating at a local establishment or your home."

Five Points filled twice in 2018 after two Eagles wins, the first on Jan. 21 after defeating the Minnesota Vikings for the NFC win, and after leaving Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and the Patriots defeated in Super Bowl LII, the Courier Times stated.

Police made several arrests, among them for public intoxication, public nudity (a woman flashed the crowd from her boyfriend's shoulders), and for climbing traffic light posts. Otherwise, it was a joyful celebration, the newspaper said.
