Falls Man Kills Self After Police Standoff (ICYMI)

Police were called to a report of a domestic fight at 11:50 p.m. last Sunday.

FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — A man in Falls Township shot and killed himself early Monday after an hours-long standoff with police following a domestic dispute.

Falls Township Police Department officers were called at 11:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, to a home on Thinbark Lane in Levittown for what was reported to be a dispute between a husband and wife. The wife got out of the home and called 911, telling police that her 47-year-old husband was inside with several firearms.

According to police spokesman Lt. Nelson Whitney, officers tried several times to get an answer at the door and on the phone. At that point, a special response team was activated. Police continued to try to contact the man using a loudspeaker, Whitney said, but they were unsuccessful.
