Falls Twp. BOS Moves Forward With Municipal Building Renovations
The Board unanimously approved advertising for architectural services toward the township's 60,000-square-foot municipal building project.
FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — The Falls Township Board of Supervisors has begun moving forward with several decisions related to the renovations of the township's municipal building.
At their meeting last Monday, the Board unanimously approved the advertising of a request that would open bids for architectural services related to the 60,000-square-foot municipal building project. This is a continuation of the renovation plans that saw Grace Construction being hired as the project's construction manager back in February.
Bids for the project can be submitted until May 26. An anticipated contract reward is set to be given within 30 days of the decision being made. Re-design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, construction administration, and inspections are just some of the projects that the contractors will do for the existing building.

Supervisors voted 5-0 to accept Remington & Vernick Engineers for engineering services related to the project. The company will perform a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, which includes a site inspection of all areas of the building and property, a review of available historic records, maps, and photos, and a review of local, state, and federal agency environmental records for the site. The historic data they will collect will go all the way back to 1931.
The total cost for the company's services in the project will be $5,900.

The Supervisors also accepted the proposal of township engineer Jones Engineering Associates to oversee engineering services related to the renovations. The company will create and improve new and existing access points, parking, landscaping, and storm weather management.
The total cost for their services will be $224,250. Additional geotechnical services and the use of an environmental scientist will cost $9,000 and $8,000, respectively.
All upgrades to the municipal campus are expected to be finished by 2024. Grace Construction will begin construction this November, with a wrap-up date estimated for September of 2023 and a final close-out by November of 2023.
