Firefighters Rescue Residents At Grundy Tower In Bristol
A fire damaged the 14-story senior home Monday evening, according to authorities

BRISTOL BOROUGH, PA — An 85-year-old man was rescued from his room and other residents of the 14-story Grundy Tower senior home in Bristol were evacuated after a fire Monday evening.
Bristol Borough Police and other first responders were called at 6:30 p.m. Monday to the tower, at 205 Pond St. When they arrived, a fire was found in room 710 of the building, according to police.
Firefighters from Bristol Borough forced their way into the room and rescued the 85-year-old man who lives there. Around the same time, the building's fire sprinklers came on and helped keep the fire in check until firefighters could put it out.

Smoke and water damage was reported to several apartments in the building.
The man from room 710 was treated by Bucks County Rescue Squad and taken to Lower Bucks Hospital for observation. All of the tower's other residents were taken to a community room then either allowed to return to their apartments or relocated with family members.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Tuesday morning, police said.
Opened in 1972, Grundy Tower provides housing for people 62 or older. There are 176 units on 14 stories, according to the Bucks County Housing Authority.
