MORRISVILLE, PA — On Sep. 17, Morrisville will celebrate L.O.V.E. is the Answer Day by painting a Harry S. Truman High School senior's mural on a local underpass, where its hopeful message can be enjoyed by community members.
Carolina Gonzalez-Espino's design was chosen for the celebration, where dozens of groups around the world will unite around a message of peace by painting murals that represent L.O.V.E. in action in their community. L.O.V.E. is an acronym — L stands for "learn about others," O stands for "open our hearts to them," V stands for "volunteer to be part of the solution in their life," and E stands for "empower others to do the same."
Gonzalez-Espino created her design using Procreate, a digital illustration app. Her artwork, branded with the missive, "L.O.V.E. is the Answer," depicts these four principles in action.

“Through my involvement and participation in designing the mural, I am helping spread and express L.O.V.E is the Answer’s message through art,” said Gonzalez-Espino, whose goal was to interpret the pledge through whimsical and youthful imagery.

Inspired by one of her favorite icons in art history, Keith Haring, she created a depiction of colorful dancing figures holding hands, connected by a ribbon of love through their hearts.
“There are no rules, rights or wrongs, or qualifications for what makes something 'art,'" Gonzalez-Espino said. "At the end of the day, there is a message behind every piece to reach the right audience that needs to hear it the most.”
Her mural will come to life on L.O.V.E. is the Answer Day at the underpass of Route 1, at the corner of Moreau Street and S. Delmorr Avenue. She and a few other Truman students, along with Morrisville community members, will gather to paint the mural between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
“I’m looking forward to finally witness my design portrayed on a big scale and of course, to also collaboratively work together with other fellow student artists, precisely practicing what the L.O.V.E is the Answer pledge preaches,” she said.
