Levittown Police Urge Parents To Teach Bike Safety
In Penndel, police say calls about kids riding bikes unsafely in traffic and parking lots have increased lately.
PENNDEL, PA — Police in the Levittown area are urging parents to make sure their kids being safe when riding their bicycles.
Penndel Borough Police say they've had an increase in calls lately about juveniles riding bicycles in the roadway, as well as at the Penndel Shopping Center on Bellevue Avenue.
"We would like to remind parents that these actions place the child in danger of serious injury as most of the riders are not wearing helmets," police said in a news release.

They said kids riding in and out of traffic on Bellevue Avenue has been especially dangerous due to the heavy traffic and large vehicles that use the roadway. Police also noted that injuries can happen while playing on bicycles in parking lots.
"Please educate your children on the dangers of riding without helmets and ask that they stay on the sidewalks and out of the street," police said.
