Middletown Police Arrest Burglar During Break-In

Police say a teen girl was home alone when the man, who had robbed several other Middletown homes, broke in Monday night.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Middletown arrested a man Monday night after they say he broke into a home where a teenage girl was alone.

At about 8:20 p.m., police were called to a home on Hawthorne Avenue. The homeowner, who was not there, had called 911 after he said he saw someone forcing his way into the home via footage from a surveillance camera.

The man told the operator that his teen daughter was at home alone at the time.

When officers arrived, police say a man ran away from the home. Others arrived and searched the house as well as forming a perimeter and searching the area around it.

An officer spotted the man and caught him after a brief chase. There was a struggle and the officer used a stun gun to subdue the man, police said.

The girl was not harmed in the incident.

After investigating further, Middletown Township Police learned that the man also had recently broken into at least three other homes on Hawthorne and Butterworth avenues. He was taken into custody and charged with multiple felonies.
