Neshaminy SD To Dismiss 3 Schools Early For Trooper's Funeral

Neshaminy High School, Maple Point Middle School, and Herbert Hoover Elementary School will dismiss early on Thursday.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Neshaminy School District has announced that it will dismiss three of its schools early on Thursday, March 31, as a result of the expected high traffic for the funeral of a local fallen trooper.

The funeral for Trooper Martin F. Mack III, a Bucks County native, will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church, located at 66 Levittown Parkway in the Levittown area. The Levittown Parkway from Route 13 to Kenwood Drive in both directions will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Combined with other road closures and the high traffic predicted in the area, the school district has announced the early dismissal of some of its schools.

  • Neshaminy High School will be dismissed at 10 a.m.
  • Maple Point Middle School will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m.
  • Herbert Hoover Elementary will be dismissed at 11:15 a.m.

"The Goal of this early dismissal is to avoid delays in student arrival home from school," said Paul Francis Meehan, Assistant to the Superintendent and Director of Educational Operations at Neshaminy School District.

"Our schools that are not impacted by the funeral procession will have school buses from the Bus Yard arrive early to their Middle School and Elementary runs and park and wait for dismissal. This will avoid any unnecessary traffic in the area of the High School and Cemetery."

Meehan advised parents arriving for car rider pick up and traveling in the area of Our Lady Grace Cemetery, where Mack will be buried later in the day, as well as Langhorne Borough, Gillam, Fairhill, Hulmeville, and Old Lincoln Highway to avoid these areas or take alternate routes between 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

These are expected to be high-traffic areas due to the expected thousands of law enforcement officials and mourners to be in the area, as well as the subsequent road closures.

Meehan also advised parents with any questions or concerns to reach out to him at 215-809-6510.
