No Grand Plans for Record Store Day
Positively Records is participating in the national Record Store Day on Saturday, but is not giving away beer, or hosting live entertainment.
For all intents and purposes, Saturday will be a regular day at Positively Records in Levittown.
Except for one thing: The designation as Record Store Day means 10 to 20 people will likely be lined up outside the 30 x 90 Levittown shop at 4153 Woerner Ave., awaiting its opening at 11 a.m., according to Doug Meginley.
"We’re just planning to sell for our customers the stuff they’re eager to get their hands on," Meginley told Patch, adding that some other independent music stores give away beer and stage live music. "We don’t do things. The store is just too physically small."

The 26-year-old store, which specializes in new, used and rare CDs and DVDs, has been participating in the national Record Store Day for the last five or six years, he said.Â
Record Store Day began in 2008 "as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally," according to the event Web site.

It is celebrated the third Saturday in April at participating independently-owned record stores.Â
Some stores offer special vinyl and CD releases and host musicians for appearances and performances, according to the site.
Locally, Meginley said hoopla isn't needed to draw out the store's "strong base of really loyal customers."
"We sell more because people are more eager for the stuff," he said.Â
Positively Records is open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.Â
