PA Storms: 60 MPH Winds, Flooding, Possible Tornado Monday

Damaging winds and large hail are also in the cards during Monday's expected storms, forecasters said.

PENNSYLVANIA - Stormy weekend weather is set to overflow into the work week, forecasters said, as flash flooding, strong to severe thunderstorms and even a possible tornado are in the cards Monday evening.

The storms, slated to start after 2 p.m., could also bring damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and large hail up to one inch, the National Weather Service said in a statement.

As of Monday morning, 10 southeast Pennsylvania counties are under a Hazardous Weather Outlook, per the National Weather Service, in effect through the evening. The affected counties are:

"Some showers and storms this afternoon into tonight will be capable of heavy rain leading to localized flooding,” forecasters said in the outlook notice.

The last of the storms should taper out in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, forecasters added, with showers lingering until around 8 a.m. Tuesday should clear up by the late morning, with temperatures in the low 80s, per AccuWeather.

The rest of the week should be mostly sunny, with highs near 80 expected through the weekend.

Here’s the latest forecast, per the National Weather Service:

Monday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Areas of fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 11 p.m., then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog after 9 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. South wind around 5 mph. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of showers, mainly before 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 81. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 82. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
