The community band was founded by Christopher Bygott in 2011 "to fulfill the need of providing an opportunity for life long learning to the community within the Pennsbury Instrumental Music Department," according to the band's official website.

"The group is made up of professionals, serious amateurs, Pennsbury alumni & faculty, community members from in and around Pennsbury and select Pennsbury high school students," the website continued.
