LANGHORNE, PA —Larry Glowacki Jr. thinks about Christmas decorations a little differently than the rest of us.

While he may have something in common with the Griswolds of National Lampoon's "Christmas Vacation" movie, Glowacki decks out his Langhorne home in green for the Philadelphia Eagles.

"I Griswold it," the long-time Philadelphia Eagles fan told Patch during an interview Thursday morning.

For the past 18 years, Glowacki's home at 15 Chancery Road in Langhorne has become a neighborhood sensation. Some neighbors might even be a little green with envy.

Around Halloween each year, when Glowacki greets neighbors with candy, people ask when he will transform his home into an Eagles house of fan worship. Glowacki responds that he needs to wait to see whether the team makes the playoffs.

With this year's fast start, Glowacki knew the Birds would find their way into the NFL playoffs this year even though he wondered like many fans at the start of the season whether Jalen Hurts was the team's answer at quarterback.

"He proved me wrong," said Glowacki, who stated that he never expected the Eagles to clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC this year.

So there was the union ironworker using his construction skills to transform his home into an attraction.

With the Eagles playing the New York Giants in the playoffs Saturday, the interest in the green house has heated up.

He'll watch the game outside on his front lawn with maybe 20 friends and neighbors and a propane heater. When the Birds played in the Super Bowl, Glowacki hosted about 60 people and kept the home decorated three weeks after the Super Bowl win.

The 46-year-old really doesn't know how the tradition started.

"I was born and raised in Fishtown," he said. "My father was a major Eagles fan. He was a season ticket holder so we went to all the games at Veterans Stadium.

It's not easy for Glowacki's home to be green.

Glowacki begins the transformation in early November. He spent a little time after work getting his house in order.

The decorations include a giant Eagles sign with 1,100 LED lights. He's built goalposts and hung banners. And just like Clark Griswold, he's still hanging banners and checking lights twice.

And the neighbors watch in wonder.

"All my lights are green and white," he said. "They all love it. They want me to start in September. Everyone says I'm crazy."

His wife Kate is also on board. Glowacki said that while she's not a football fan, she's buying merchandise and adding to the collection.

So about the game Saturday?

"I still believe the Eagles will win easily," he said.

Glowacki really does bleed Eagles green.

"It's just different about the Eagles," he said. "It goes much deeper than the Phillies, Sixers and Flyers. You're just born with it."
