MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The call came in from a neighboring town early one mid-November morning.

Residents and animals were trapped inside a house on fire in Langhorne Manor Borough.

Middletown Township police officers immediately responded to the 100 block of West Richardson Avenue, knowing that borough police officers were not working at that time.

Officer Brady was the first on the scene and started to evacuate the homes in the affected area.

Officers Leonhauser, Compton, and Brady went to the rear of the home with the trapped resident and attempted to gain access.

Officer Compton used the recently issued halligan tool to break down the door to give the firefighters immediate access.

Officers McPherson, Clawson, and Leonard continued to evacuate nearby residents to ensure there was no loss of life from this raging fire.

The Middletown Township Police Department recently recognized the officers and their "excellent police work."

"Their quick thinking, decisive, and heroic efforts saved lives that night, and they were given commendations and a squad citation for these acts," police said.
