Protest Against President Trump To Be Held In Lower Bucks Co.
The "Good Trouble Lives On" event on Thursday is being organized in honor of the spirit of civil rights icon John Lewis.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Protests against President Trump's administration and recent policies, which critics say are violations of civil and human rights, will be held throughout the Philadelphia region on Thursday, including one in Lower Bucks County.
It's part of a coordinated set of protests and gatherings nationwide coinciding with the date of the passing of Congressman John Lewis, an icon of the civil rights movement for decades. Lewis passed on July 17, 2020.
A rally and candlelight observance will be held in front of U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick’s office in Langhorne in hopes that John Lewis’s example will be an inspiration to our representative to speak out, act up, and vote to protect the dignity of all those who reside in his district.

“Above all else, John Lewis promoted the dignity and equality of all people,” said Karen Rodriguez, co-leader of hosting organization Indivisible Bucks County. “What we are seeing right now from the Trump Administration is the opposite of that principle — with rampant racial profiling, dehumanization, and denial of due process. There could not be a clearer contrast between the reality of where we are right now, and the shining example of what we could reach for, if only we live up to the example provided to us by John Lewis.”
The protest takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the parking lot of One Summit Square in Langhorne, at the corner of Routes 332 and 413.

“John Lewis is an inspiration for most of us in this movement,” said Laura Rose, co-leader of hosting organization Indivisible Bucks County. “He was a man whose life was a sterling example of the principles of non-violent protest, the expansion of rights to all, and the power of perseverance. In this era of political chaos and the Trump Administration’s attempt to strip civil rights from our fellow citizens, we all look to examples like John Lewis for a reminder of how to move forward in our search for America’s more perfect union.”
The nationwide actions are being organized by a coalition of 140 organizations, including Indivisible, as a part of the Good Trouble Lives On movement.
A core principle behind all Good Trouble Lives On events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
Similar events are also scheduled nearby in other Philadelphia communities, including Ardmore, East Norriton, Ambler, and in Delaware County.
