Sewer Rate Hikes Coming In Bristol Borough
Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority customers in Bristol Borough will pay more for sewer services starting on Jan. 1.
BRISTOL BOROUGH, PA — Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority customers in the borough will see their sewer bills increase at the start of next year.
The BCWSA has announced that sewer rate increases and a new monthly billing schedule for customers will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2026.
The adjustments were previously approved as part of the 2022 sale agreement in which BCWSA acquired Bristol Borough’s sewer system.

The BCWSA said rate changes reflect the terms of the acquisition agreement and are designed to support ongoing infrastructure improvements, system reliability, and long-term sustainability of sewer services.
Borough customers will also be transitioned from a quarterly billing cycle to a monthly billing cycle, the BCWSA said.

Starting Jan. 1, customers who use about 4,000 gallons a month, which is a typical household of four, could see an increase of $20 per month. Single residents, who typically use about 1,000 gallons a month, will see a smaller monthly increase.
“We understand that any rate change impacts our customers, and we remain committed to transparency and responsible stewardship of the sewer system,” CEO Benjamin Jones said. “These adjustments are part of BCWSA’s broader plan to ensure continued investment in the system and to maintain high-quality service for residents and businesses in Bristol Borough.”
Since BCWSA acquired Bristol Borough’s sewer system in 2022, more than $2.2 million has been invested by the authority on necessary repairs and maintenance, officials said.
The repairs include major upgrades to pipes and wires, new automated monitoring systems that provide real-time data at the treatment facility, new servers and security software, and cameras to detect any cracks and leaks across the system.
BCWSA also paid an additional $1 million to the borough to repair the bridge that accesses the plant.
BCWSA said that customers impacted by the increases were notified directly and provided detailed information about the new rates, billing schedules, and available customer support resources.
