Police negotiators made contact with John Chambers, 52, of Bristol, and after some communication, he cooperated and exited the home.
The man was taken into custody with no force, and no injuries were reported, police said.
At this time, Bristol Township Police are not releasing the person's information, and all questions can be referred to the Bucks County Sheriff's Department.
The Bucks County Sheriff’s Office’s criminal and domestic warrant teams apprehended Chambers, who was wanted for failing to appear in court on assault and associated charges.
The apprehension followed a standoff at a residence.
Sheriff’s Office deputies observed Chambers and attempted to make contact. Upon engaging with law enforcement at the door, the individual became confrontational and stated he would retrieve a firearm.
Following the threats, deputies secured the location and requested the assistance of the Bucks County South SWAT team. Negotiators from the SWAT team established communication with the suspect.
After about 1.5 hours of negotiation, Chambers was taken into custody without incident.
No injuries were sustained by law enforcement officers or the individual during the operation.
Chambers was taken to the Bucks County Correctional Facility. Additional charges are pending.
A shelter-in-place order was issued earlier in the day due to police activity and the public was told to avoid the area.
Three township schools were placed on lockdown for the standoff, including Harry S. Truman High School.
The lockdown was lifted at the schools around 11 a.m. Thursday, a district spokesperson said.
"The outside police matter has been resolved, and normal operations have resumed at Mill Creek, Franklin, and Truman, school officials said. "Thank you to the Bristol Township Police for their efforts and communication and to our school community for your understanding."
