BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Prepare for very cold temperatures Wednesday with wind chills registering below zero in Lower Bucks County, forecasters said.

Though it will be sunny, the National Weather Service predicts the forecast will top out in the mid-20s in Lower Bucks on Wednesday, with wind chills possible of -2 degrees. The westerly winds are not forecast to exceed 15-20 miles per hour.

“Overall, the short period will be dry and cold, with Wednesday possibly turning out to be one of the coldest days of the winter, at least thus far,” said forecasters with the NWS’s Mount Holly office.

That means there will be a respite from the snow that covered communities around Bucks County into Tuesday, but flakes will return in the forecast later this week. The plummeting temperatures may also prove treacherous, with melting snow and wintery slush likely freezing, added AccuWeather forecasters.

"Unlike the flurries and snow squalls that drifted across the area on Sunday and mainly melted on roads, lower temperatures in place for the storm in the Northeast will lead to slippery and snow-covered roads and sidewalks in many cases," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Matt Benz said.
