FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — The Falls Township Police Department is investigating a collision between two tractor-trailers at a key township intersection.

Falls Township Police said that at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Bucks County Department of Emergency Communications received a report of the collision at the intersection of Tyburn Road and New Ford Mill Road in Morrisville.

Responders found one driver, a 53-year-old Philadelphia man, semi-conscious. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Capital Health Hospital in Trenton, N.J., for evaluation and treatment, police said.

Police said the impact left both vehicles disabled in the roadway and shoulder, leaking a significant amount of diesel fuel.

Firefighters and Fire Police from Station 30 responded to stabilize the scene and manage environmental concerns.

The hazardous conditions required traffic to be diverted to surrounding boroughs for safe passage. Local police departments were notified to mitigate the impact.

Several heavy-duty tow trucks and a street sweeper were required to remove the vehicles and debris, resulting in the closure of Tyburn Road for approximately two and a half hours. PennDOT was also notified to repair damage to the guardrail, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicated that before the collision, the Philadelphia resident was operating a truck tractor eastbound on Tyburn Road, attempting to proceed through the intersection.

The second vehicle, an unladen tractor-trailer operated by a 25-year-old man from Zion Grove was turning left from Tyburn Road westbound onto New Ford Mill Road southbound.

Neither vehicle was equipped with a dashboard camera, and the intersection does not have video monitoring. One witness provided information before leaving the scene, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing as police seek additional evidence and eyewitness accounts.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has dashboard camera footage of the area at the time of the incident to contact Sgt. Raymond Fanelli at r.fanelli@fallstwppd.com or 215-302-3346.
