MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Video surveillance released by police shows the suspect involved in the shooting outside the Oxford Valley Mall on Thursday night fleeing the scene.

Middletown Township Detective Stephen Forman said the suspect remains at large as the investigation into the "targeted shooting" is ongoing, with leads being actively pursued.

New video has been uncovered that shows the suspect fleeing from the area of the SEPTA bus stop by the JC Penny Store towards the area where the old Boscov’s building once stood, near the new Atlee Square Apartments, Forman said.

Searching through additional security video, the suspect was observed before the incident standing between JC Penny and the One Oxford Valley Building by the water fountain, talking on his phone, Forman said.

Police from throughout Lower Bucks County, along with the Pennsylvania State Police, responded to the Oxford Valley Mall around 5 p.m. Thursday after a man was shot at the SEPTA bus stop near the JCPenney store.

Forman said the victim ran inside the mall through a loading dock area and ended up near the Annie Ann's store, where he was met by store security. The sight of a man trailing blood through the mall triggered people to think there was an active shooter, and they began flooding the 911 center with calls, police said.

"This was a specifically targeted incident that had nothing to do with the public," Forman said. "It was a retaliatory attack."

The 25-year-old male victim has been released from St. Mary Medical Center following treatment for the gunshot wound to his left arm. He is recovering at home in Trenton, N,J., Forman said.

Middletown Township Police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect fleeing, described as an under 30-year-old tall thin black man with dreadlocks and a unique walking/running gait to contact Detective Ryan Morrison at rmorrison@mtpd.org, or 215-750-3866.
