2 Injured After Vehicle Crashes Off Route 422 Overpass In Upper Providence

Authorities said the vehicle lost control and flew off the overpass onto the road below.

UPPER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, PA — A vehicle crashed off the Route 422 overpass in Upper Providence Township on Halloween, leaving two people seriously injured, authorities said.

The incident occurred at about 2:23 p.m.

It's not yet clear what caused the accident, but the vehicle crashed off the overpass and down on South Lewis Road, near Yeager Road.

When first responders from the Royersford Fire Department arrived, both occupants were trapped and were suffering from critical injuries, officials said.

A medical helicopter was sent to pick them up, but due to the high winds and other factors, authorities determined to send ground ambulances instead.

While they awaited the ambulances, the Friendship Ambulance Medical Director, a physician, was able to provide direct treatment to the victims.

The condition of the victims is not known.

Route 422 was shut down for hours after the crash.
