Area Law Enforcement Respond to Standoff in Spring City

A Spring City man allegedly threatened to kill his wife with a rifle before engaging in a standoff police late Monday night, according to Spring City Police Chief Anthony Kuklinski.

When the victim returned to her home on 300 South Church Street around 8:15 p.m., she found her personal effects laying in front of the residence, and was met inside the home by her husband, Robert Fillman, 54, who was allegedly armed with a rifle, according to police.

Fillman and the victim had a verbal confrontation, and she fled the residence to call police, according Kuklinski.

Officers secured the area, and were unable to contact the subject, police said; 10 other law enforcement agencies, including the Northern Chester County SWAT team and Royersford Police responded to the scene, where Fillman surrendered without incident around 10:15 p.m, police said.

Fillman is charged with possession of instruments of crime, simple assault, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.
