Back To School: Spring-Ford District 2021-22 School Calendar

SPRING CITY, PA — Back-to-school planning is happening in the Spring-Ford School District now, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in SFASD, and info on policies as school starts.

The first day of school for most students in the Spring-Ford area is Aug. 30. Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates may be subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point.

Spring-Ford Area School District will open for in-person instruction, five days per week, for all students in kindergarten through 12th grade for the 2021-22 school year.

A big question in school communities is masks — and if they will be required.

SFASD said it will monitor county and municipality incidence and positivity data, and watch the designations based on those metrics of low, moderate, high, or substantial risk of COVID-19 spread, as determined by the Commonwealth. The District said it will continue to consider guidance and implement mandates provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention; the Pennsylvania Department of Health; the Pennsylvania Department of Education; the Montgomery Office of Public Health.

This means, if risk remains low or moderate as the school year begins, masks will still be required for K-6th grade students and staff until vaccinations would be available for the younger students. For staff and students in grades 7-12, masks would be optional both indoors and outdoors while COVID-19 risk remains in the low or moderate range.

If COVID-19 risk rises to substantial or high risk based on metrics, 7-12 graders and staff will be encouraged to wear masks. Find a detailed document showing the SFASD Reopening Plan here.

Here are some important dates to know for this school year in Spring-Ford School District:

First Day: Aug. 30

Labor Day: Sept. 6 with no school for students Sept. 7

Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 25-26 with no school for students on Nov. 24

Winter Break: Dec. 24-31

Spring Break: April 14-18 with no school for students April 13

Last Day: June 10
