Cops Awarded Medals Of Valor By Montco DA
Limerick, Upper Providence, and Whitemarsh officers were honored for risking their lives when confronted with armed suspects.
CONSHOHOCKEN, PA —Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele Thursday awarded four police officers “Medals of Valor” for risking their lives to keep the community safe while suspects fired shots at the officers.
Upper Providence Police Officers John Burdsal and Michael Sheehan, and Limerick Sgt. Stephen Winneberger received the medals for their extraordinary efforts and exemplary work in quelling a disturbance when a suspect fired shots at them during a mental breakdown.
Cpl. Matthew Stadukis of Whitemarsh Township also received the “Medal of Valor” for disarming a suspect in November 2022 who fired a stolen gun at the officer at point-blank range.

Mont Clare Shooting
On March 16, 2022, David Naumenko fired shots at police officers in the Mont Clare section of Upper Providence township when police were called to quell a disturbance at the Meadows condominium complex.
After the shots were fired, a Limerick Township police officer arrived at a second-floor unit, and witnessed Naumenko reloading his weapon, police said.
The officer then fired a shot at Naumenko, hitting his right arm, police said. Naumenko then fell to the ground.
Patch previously reported on Naumenko’s arrest. Naumenko died of natural causes on Aug. 9, 2022, at age 63.
