Pottstown Salvation Army Offering Holiday Assistance

Local Families Must Register During the Week of October 22

POTTSTOWN, PA – The Salvation Army of Pottstown announced today it will be accepting applications from local families in need to receive holiday assistance. Members of the community may apply to receive Christmas gifts for children age 10 and under. Majors Lawrence and Jeny Shurtleff, Corps Officers, The Salvation Army of Pottstown, anticipate serving an estimated 150 local families this holiday season.

Registration

Families and individuals seeking holiday assistance must register in person at The Salvation Army of Pottstown’s Corps Community Center at 137 King Street, Pottstown, PA, on the following dates and times:

  • Monday, October 22 and Tuesday, October 23: 1:00pm – 4:00pm
  • Wednesday, October 24: 6:00pm – 8:00pm
  • Thursday, October 25 and Friday, October 26: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

**NOTE: Please do not bring children to registration**

Requirements:

  • Proof of Residency: such as a current utility bill (gas, electric, propane, water bill) AND a lease/mortgage agreement. NOTE: Applicants must be residents of Montgomery County.
  • Current Photo ID: Driver’s License, State Issued ID, Governmental/Military ID, Passport, ID from Country of Origin for ALL adult household members.
  • Official Certified State Issued Birth Certificates
  • Proof of Household Monthly Income for the past 30 days, such as a pay stub, social security, child support verification, and unemployment verification. If no income verification is available, you may bring DHS Benefits Statement, and it must include name, birth date, social security number, benefit type and amount.

The Salvation Army of Pottstown serves thousands of individuals and families each year through a multitude of programs and services. These include: The Lessig-Booth Family Residence, transitional housing program, Pottstown Works job training, holiday assistance, and character building for youth and adults.
