Socially Distanced 'Drive-In Wedding' To Be Held In Montco
Organizers are touting the creative event as the first of its kind in the area.
LOWER POTTSGROVE, PA — While Montgomery County is slowly reopening with the rest of Pennsylvania, there are some things that still just aren't quite the same. The coronavirus crisis has led to a continous shutdown of numerous venues like movie theatres, and gatherings indoors remain prohibited.
For locals that were planning weddings, the grief over the closures is especially intense. And that's where SunnyBrook Ballroom, one of Montgomery County's most historic music venues and dance halls, came into the picture, as they tried to figure out a way to host an upcoming ceremony on June 20.

"I just couldn’t break another bride's heart,"said JoAnne Paquette, SunnyBrook's sales director. "Especially when we’re so close to life going back to normal. My heart couldn’t take it."
SunnyBrook has already gained attention from around the region for offering a drive-in movie theatre on their grounds over recent weeks that has proved wildly popular.

So they simply expanded that concept to a wedding.
The ceremony itself will take place in SunnyBrook's Wedding Garden, with only parents and the bridal parties permitted in. The ceremony will be broadcast out onto the 40-foot drive-in screen in the lot, with the help of PCTV and The Hill School, for the rest of hte guests to watch and hear.
SunnyBrook also set up a stage in front of the screen in the parking lot for their first dance. The Uptown Band will perform at the event.
Guests will be served meals of their choice the same way they do during their drive-in events, with deliveries by golf carts.
While it's certainly nontraditional, the couple told SunnyBrook they loved it. "We just want to get married," they said.
