Spring-Ford Student Greets Voters In Upper Providence Township
Turnout was slow and steady in the early afternoon at the Upper Providence Community Center.
UPPER PROVIDENCE, PA —When voters arrived at the Upper Providence Community Center at lunchtime to cast their ballots, they were greeted by Spring-Ford ninth grader, Steven Goldsmith.
“I am here to greet people because my mom is running,” Goldsmith said proudly. “She’s running because she wants to make positive changes while her kids are in Spring-Ford.”
Goldsmith’s mom, Heidi Goldsmith, is among the candidates running in Region 1, which covers Mont Clare and Oaks.

The polls are open until 8 p.m. tonight.
Erin Holvoet, judge of elections, said the precinct is one of eight in Montgomery County using a Poll Pad, which is a computer that checks in voters in place of a book.
By noon, a total of 113 voters had cast ballots.
Holvoet said the turnout was low as expected.
“We have large turnouts for a presidential election,” she said, noting the local elections are typically slow.
Holvoet said she looks forward to her 18-year-old son, Eli, voting for the first time. She went over all of the candidates on the ballot with her son.
Denise Chroscinski, Upper Providence GOP committee member, said that she would like to see thumbprints used to check in voters for when it gets busy.
“We have a large turnout for presidential elections,” she said.
