Spring-Ford Rotary Members, Students Assist 39 Local Families

Roughly $7,000 in gifts were wrapped at the Ninth Grade Center on Wednesday.

The Spring-Ford Rotary joined with students from the Spring-Ford Area School District to wrap gifts Wednesday for 39 needy families as part of the rotary's 'Adopt-A-Family" Program.

Students wrapped $7,000 is gifts that will benefit the local families, including 97 children and 16 seniors.

The initiative, in its 12th year, brought together rotarians, members of the Grace Lutheran and the First United Church of Christ, both of Royersford, the Spring-Ford High School Interact Club and the Spring City Blue Lodge.

The churches identified families in need, and the club came up with a working budget of $7,000 before shoppers "went to town," according to the organization.

"This project signifies our motto 'Service above Self', and gives a Christmas to the needy, who might otherwise not have a Christmas this year," said Spring-Ford member Thomas F. Smith
