Upper Providence Police Dept. Reopens After Officer's Death

The police station was shut down for several days following the tragic death of one of their own.

UPPER PROVIDENCE, PA — The Upper Providence police department has reopened after closing for several days following the tragic death of one of their own.

The 27-year-old officer, Christian Flynn, shot himself in the parking lot of the township campus last week.

The police department was throughout the week last week as officers mourned and services were held for Flynn.

During the closure, surrounding area departments patrolled Upper Providence and covered for the township's officers.

The department reopened at 6 a.m. Monday morning.

"A huge thank you to all of the police agencies who stepped up, offered, and assisted us through mutual aid," police said in a statement. "We also want to express our gratitude to the community for their condolences and support as we continue to move forward."
