LOWER MACUNGIE, PA — Nonprofit groups are keystone community organizations in the Lower Macungie area. Fortunately, there is no shortage of organizations to volunteer or get behind financially, and that need your help.
Here are five outstanding nonprofit groups you should know about in the Lower Macungie area:
1. Second Harvest Food Bank —Helps feed the hungry in the Lehigh Valley and five other counties in Northeast Pennsylvania, helping more than 200 agencies.

2. Lower Macungie Fire Department —The township's fire department consists of three stations and 77 dedicated men and women. They proudly protect 35,000 people living in an area of more than 23 square miles.
3. Lehigh Valley Humane Society —The Allentown-based shelter helps to find forever homes for pets. Donations are always welcome.

4. ArtsQuest —Provides arts, culture, and educational programs in the Lehigh Valley. The organization is partnering with the township to produce four events at Grange Park in nearby Upper Macungie this year.
5. Macungie Elementary PTO —The Macungie Elementary School Parent Teachers Organization raises funds and sponsors events throughout the year to benefit students and communicate with families and staff at PTO meetings.
