LMMS : LMMS Panorama SEL Survey

Dear LMMS Families,       

We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. As you may already be aware, building our social-emotional learning (SEL) skills and our equity and inclusion framework is an important goal for our school this year. 

We administered this survey for the first time last year. During our first administration, participation varied by age group which may be attributed to many students completing the survey remotely. This year, the majority of students will complete the questionnaire at school. Our VEsPA students will have the opportunity to complete the survey at home. We hope this will allow us to gather more accurate data. Together, our two data points will provide a clearer picture of areas of strengths and needs which school leaders will use to guide change efforts. 

Over the next several weeks, we will be asking for your child to reflect on their own mindsets and approaches to learning via two online surveys they will be completing at school. The surveys will go live on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 and should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete in total. The survey window will close on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.

The social-emotional learning survey content will ask students to self-reflect on survey topics including Emotion Regulation, Challenging Feelings, Self-Management, and Supportive Relationships. The equity and inclusion survey content will ask students to self-reflect on survey topics including Cultural Awareness and Action, Diversity and Inclusion, and Sense of Belonging.

We are asking that all of our students participate in these surveys as their responses will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. 

Following this survey administration, high level survey results will be shared with the public in a  January 2022 School Board presentation.  Results will also be utilized over the next four months during the district’s comprehensive planning which includes multiple stakeholder groups.
