The reapportioning will reflect population growth in the South and West of the country, where states like Arizona and Nevada area gaining seats. Texas will gain the most seats, adding 36 congressional seats to its caucus.

The loss of a congressional seat will also lead to a statewide redistricting, which will begin in 2011.

Population growth slowed in the Northeast, with only a 3.2% growth rate over the past 10 years. in a statement during the 11am press conference, Census Director Robert Groves reminded the press that we can't just attribute these numbers to immigration. "The exciting thing about this data is that we can measure the movement of the entire U.S. population over the past decade."
