Huntingdon Valley Hurricanes Start Season with Six Straight Wins

The HV Hurricanes are looking for a seventh straight win to start the season this weekend.

The youth basketball team is playing some good ball. HV ran its record to a perfect 6-0 to start the season thanks to a couple more wins this week.

The team will aim for a seventh straight win when it takes on defending champion Springford on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the gymnasium.

Huntingdon Valley (6-0) 40, Audubon 26

  • HV Raises Its Recored to 6-0 Behind 13 Points and 24 Rebounds By Forest Keys.

Huntingdon Valley used a big game by Forest Keys (13 points, 23 rebounds, 5 blocks) and great guard play from Shane Cohen (10 points, 5 steals) and Bryce Horn (6 points, 5 steals, 3 assists) to push HV's record to 6-0. HV jumped out to a very quick 12-0 lead just two minutes into the game and really never looked back.

"We really got out quick tonight, it was almost like the kids couldn't wait for the game to start," coach Eric Keys said. "It's fun to see the development of the kids. I hate to give my own son credit but boy was he good tonight (said with a smile)"

HV used great play also from Jordan Zoubroulis (7 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists), John Davies (4 points, 6 rebounds), Andrew Finnegan (3 rebounds) and Jake Himmelstein (16 rebounds, 4 blocks)

  • Horn and Keys Lead The Way With The Offense and Bogorowski Leads The Way With The Defense.

Huntingdon Valley used a strong second half behindΒ a great defensive effort by Gunnar Bogorowski (2 points, 9 steals). After taking a slim, four-point lead into the break, HV came back with a 23-12 second-half outburst.

The offense was lead by Forest Keys (11points, 23 rebounds) and Bryce Horn (11 points, 5 steals) who ended up with a team-high 11 points.

"Gunnar really showed how valuable he is to our team tonight," Keys said. "He really stepped up his game when asked to guard the other teams best player. After the game I was told the player scored zero points. I cant be more happy with the job he is doing for our team"

  • Cohen's 12 Points Lead The Way For Huntingdon Valley in 36-16 Victory Over Whitpain

Huntingdon Valley used Shane Cohen's 12 points to help gain its fourth straight win to start the season. HV used the Cohen's spark to jump out to an early 12-0 lead and never looked back. HV lead 14-3 after the first half and had a commanding 24-6 halftime lead.

"Shane (Cohen) has been a huge addition to our team this season," Keys said. "He has really pushed our team to another level this season. He has learned our offense really quick and is really fun to watch play"

Huntingdon Valley (HV) used great defense and a hugeΒ second half in beating Warrington. HVΒ ledΒ 22-13 at the half and put the game away early in the 3rd quarter with a 10-0 run lead byΒ  Shane Cohen (8 points, 5 steals). Β Forest Keys lead the way for HV with 12 points and a season-high 23 rebounds. Jordan Zoubroulis chipped inΒ with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

"We started slow in the first quarter but really picked it up from there," Keys said. "Our defense has really been playing well this season and it seems like it is getting better. Warrington plays a tough physical game and we had to adjust"

  • Horn's 15 First-Half Points Lead HV

Huntingdon Valley (HV) used Bryce Horn's 15 first-half points in beating Deep Run (DR) 42-27. HV took the lead early and never looked back while building its advantage to as many as 18 points.Β Every player on the HV team scored as they shot a stellar 45% from the field. John Davies scored six of his eight points (three rebounds) in the second half.

"I really didn't know how many points I had until after the game," Horn said. "It was fun shooting the ball and making baskets. My dad asked me how many points I thought I had and I said 8, he then said I had 15 and I thought he was kidding"
