Pine Road 5th-Grader Receives President’s Volunteer Service Award

Isabella Duarte was recognized by the Lower Moreland School Board for her dedication to the community.

Fifth-grader Isbella Duarte was presented with the President’s Volunteer Service Award in front of a packed crowd at the Lower Moreland School Board meeting Monday.

The certificate was presented by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Program, on behalf of President Barack Obama.

“Isabella is one of our Pine Road students in fifth grade and she’s receiving this certificate for qualifying for the President’s Volunteer Service Award, which recognizes those who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve the communities and the county,” Superintedent Marykay Feeley said.

Isabella has helped work food banks, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Book Sales and has donated her hair for the Locks of Love fundraiser.

“It seems like for everything that you do, you deserve this award. Congratulations,” Lower Moreland School Board President Dr. Murray Cohen said.

The President's Volunteer Service web site describes the award as "Recognizing and honoring volunteers sets a standard for service, encourages a sustained commitment to civic participation and inspires other to make service a central part of their lives."
