Antisemitic Remarks Made By Lower Gwynedd Elementary Principal: District

The incident Friday morning sparked a "legal process seeking the principal's termination​," the district said.

AMBLER, PA — An incident Friday morning that involved antisemitic remarks will lead to the firing of the Lower Gwynedd Elementary School principal, the Wissahickon School District said.

The nature of the incident, which occurred Friday morning, is not clear. The district did not clarify further on exactly what the principal, Philip Leddy, said.

A news conference will be held at 3 p.m. during which additional details are expected to be released. Superintendent Mwenyewe Dawan will address the incident.

The district said that they had begun "the legal process seeking the principal’s termination."

Leddy was appointed principal in Sept. 2023, and has years of experience in elementary education, including with the Spring-Ford Area School District Grades 5-6 Center. Prior to Spring-Ford, he taught both elementary and middle school students in the Norristown Area School District.

Leddy has a bachelor's degree from Bloomsburg University and a master’s degree from Cabrini College.
