Lower Moreland Boys Basketball Team Kicks Off Season Tonight

The Lower Moreland boys basketball team will open its season tonight at home against George School. Head coach Seth Baron will lead the Lions’ varsity team starting at 7 p.m. The game will follow the JV game (5:30 p.m.) as former LM grad Adam Brown makes his coaching debut.

The Lions are a young squad that will need to build chemistry as the season goes along with only six upperclassmen on the roster. Mike Mangan and Demitri Zoubroulis are the only seniors, but there are still a number of returning players for LM to have some cohesiveness.  

Last year Lower Moreland finished in a tie for second place with Devon Prep in the Bicentennial League with a 9-4 league record. The Lions finished 18-7 overall and averaging 57.5 points per game. It was their most successful season since the ‘07-‘08 campaign.

They’ll be competing against regular Bicentennial foes Holy Ghost – who seem to be the league favorites every year – Devon Prep, MAST Charter, Christopher Dock, Springfield and New Hope-Solebury.

LM beat tonight’s opponent, George School, 73–46, in last year’s meeting.

The girls basketball team kicks off its season next week on Tuesday, Dec. 13. at Upper Moreland.
